Vanessa C. Fernandez

Attorney

Vanessa has exclusively practiced marital and family law since 2021. Her interest in helping families began during high school, when she volunteered and worked at summer camps. These experiences introduced her to different family dynamics and inspired her to pursue a law degree so she could help families navigate challenging circumstances.

Understanding the uncertainty that can accompany dissolution of marriage and paternity cases, she believes in pursuing the approach that best serves each client, whether that means litigating an issue in court or resolving a matter outside of court.

In 2017, Vanessa graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Family, Youth and Community Sciences (FYCS), summa cum laude, and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, cum laude. During her undergraduate studies, she held various leadership positions within the Pre-Legal Honor Society and the FYCS Club. Both organizations provided opportunities for community outreach focused on children and families.

She earned her law degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and was admitted to The Florida Bar in 2021. During law school, she served as president of the Law Association for Women, general editor of the Journal of Law and Public Policy, and a student attorney with the Intimate Partner Violence Clinic. Through the clinic, she appeared in court and worked with clients to prepare for injunction return hearings. She also earned the highest grade in the class.

A Tampa Bay resident since early childhood, Vanessa is a first-generation American and is fluent in Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and traveling.
