For more than 25 years, Joseph Hunt has practiced exclusively in the area of marital and family law. As an experienced trial lawyer, he is as comfortable in the courtroom as in the conference room, but recognizes the benefits of settlement over trial. Mr. Hunt is one of a select few Florida attorneys who have earned the designation of being Board Certified in marital and family law, the highest level of recognition by the Florida Bar displaying an attorney’s competency and experience in their specific area of law, and a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, demonstrating substantial involvement in the matrimonial field and utilizing his experience to focus on complex domestic relations matters, either with a traditional litigation based approach or a collaborative approach.

Mr. Hunt has litigated numerous cases in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Manatee, Hernando and Sarasota Counties. With extensive trial experience, he is a zealous advocate who simultaneously promotes the amicable resolution of disputes. Additionally, Mr. Hunt handles collaborative cases in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Polk Counties.

Mr. Hunt has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1993 and served on the Florida Bar Marital and Family Law Certification Committee, is an active member of the Florida Bar Family Law Section serving as current member of the Executive Council, past Co-Chair of the Legislative Committee, current member of the Finance Committee, current Co-Chair of the Equitable Distribution Committee, and was on the 2017 Trial Advocacy Committee. Mr. Hunt is a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, formerly served as the Chairperson of the Hillsborough County Bar Association Family Law Section; is a current member of the St. Petersburg Bar Association; has served on the Executive and Membership Committee and is a current member of the Tampa Bay Academy of Collaborative Professionals; is a current member of the Florida Association of Collaborative Professionals; is a master member of the Givens Family Law Inn of Tampa; and has served on a Florida Bar Grievance Committee. Mr. Hunt serves on the Board of Managers for the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Florida Chapter while also serving on the Institute and Webinar Committees.

Mr. Hunt received his B.A. degree from Michigan State University and his J.D. degree from Stetson University College of Law. Mr. Hunt has been recognized in Florida Super Lawyers®, Best Lawyers, Florida Trend’s Legal Elite, completed Family Mediation Certification training, has served as a family law mediator, is a frequent speaker on Family Law issues, speaking at Florida’s Marital and Family Law Review Course, and serving as a workshop leader at the last three cycles of the Florida Bar Family Law Section Trial Advocacy Seminar. He was awarded the 2012 Ted Millison Professionalism Award by the Family Law Inn of Tampa having exemplified the highest standards of ethics and professionalism in the practice of family law.

Mr. Hunt is active in charitable causes and civic organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay, Lawyers for Literacy and serves on the Board of Directors and is the current President-Elect for The Rotary Club of Tampa.
